Warts of any kind are caused by a virus. Whether they be plantar's warts, gential warts or warts on parts of your body, they are caused by a particular strand of something called HPV or Human Papilloma Virus. There are around 100 known strands of HPV and each strand does something different. I do believe strands 8 and 10 (could be 11) cause gential warts. These warts are NOT herpes. What they may be if they are not warts, is shingles. In this case get them examined by a doctor in order to be sure. There's nothing worse than worrying about something if it's in fact nothing to worry about. Good Luck, and I hope I could help.

put duct tape on them for a week or so, they don't like the environment so they go away

herpes has no relation to warts, the herpes virus causes painful blisters that open and supperate. Warts are entirely different.
