Yes, it is normal to test your BS and not take injections. THe blood sugar meter will even work on someone who may have Pre diabetes. A person without diabetes could even use it. It is just a measure to see if your sugars go out of the normal ranges during specific times, like after you eat. If they are higher than what Dr's consider "normal" it can indicate that the diabetes is not being controlled by just diet and pills. THe best piece of advice that I can give as a type1 diabetic is to exercise and watch the diet. The pills or injections can only do so much but you will have a lot better control and management if you eat right and exercise. It can be tricky at first trying to manage the diet with the exercise but eventually a routine will come out of it and your sister may avoid the shots.

dont understand what machine you are talking about, but it is strong in families. so you will need to keep a watchout for yourself

If you are talking about a glucose monitor when you refer to a machine, yes that is perfectly normal. Not all type 2 diabetics take insulin. It can be controlled through diet, exercise, and oral medication.

Hi, Tina Marie.
She's been diagnosed and that's a really good start!! She needs to keep testing, eat well according to guidelines she should have been given by the DR., exercise and make sure she's at a healthy weight.

My heart is with you,

The sister needs to start doing these exercises. You can also do it and compare notes with sister.Do it, get better and you will not pass it on to next generation.
These pranayam exercises will help control the diabetes and the side effects.Build up the timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume later. The benefits will be noticed in weeks as the sugar level is checked daily.Over the long tern the diabetes will be in full control and the medicine(if any) can be reduced in consultation with the doctor.
