Chapped Lips--PLEASE HELP!?!

Question: I am on the medication Accutane, and one of the side effects is extremely dry/chapped lips. I have been using everything, Carmex, Burt's Bee's, Vaseline; you name it, I've tried it. I doubled my water intake and I'm taking vitamins. Nothing is helping, and it hurts so bad. The corners of my mouth are dry and cracked too and it is hard for me to open my mouth a lot, it just hurts. Please if you have any experience or have taken this med and know something that helped you, please, anything is appreciated.

I used to have really bad lips, and I got this thing called Bag Balm from costco, and it helped a ton. They originally used it on Cow Udders, so they'd be able to be milked all day, so you know it has to be good lol! :p

Vaseline is great for chapped lips.. if you keep reapplying it, it should work. :]

accutane is serious poison, have you considered getting off that?

Have you tried the old standby...ChapStick. in the black and white tube.

try blistex in the tube not the balm but the actual squeezy tube its the only thing that helps me...make sure you keep ur lips constantly moist and ask your doctor for soem advice too...i hate cracked lips they really hurt i wish could be of more help!

It's expensive but its worth it. Sween Cream. I know it's lotion but this works wonder on my dry cracked up lips when nothing else worked. You can get it at any medical supply stores. It's around 13 dollars a jar but really worth it. This stuff works wonders. It tastes rather odd, and it's really thick but that stuff heals and hydrates. Don't put it on your lip exclusively, put it on the area around your mouth as well. You should see results in around a week of continuous usage. Good luck, Godbless, Good health.

ChapStick. The black one.
