Anemia????!

Question: Im 14 and have some of the symptoms of anemia apparantly..

Feel tired a lot - I dont go to sleep early though, but if i came in from school and just sat on my bed, id fall asleep ?

Out of breath after little things - Running up the stairs in my house?

About a month ago I used to get headaches ALL the time when I moved my head but theyve gone away now..

Before you ask, Im not on my period, ive skipped it a couple months.

Am I?
What happens if I am?

Thnx x

You have symptoms of anemia. You can have your doctor measure your iron levels and if they are low, your doctor can order a blood count. Even if you don't have anemia, you can still be tired from low iron. You want your iron level to be at least 70.

In the meantime, you can eat red meat which is a good source of iron. You can also take a multiple vitamin which contains iron. You may not want to take iron tablets until you know your iron levels as too much iron can be a problem as well.

If you are anemic, you will probably have to take iron tablets twice a day for several months. You will probably get periodic blood tests to see if your iron levels are rising.

Are you getting enough protein and iron in your diet? Try eating more meats and beans to get your iron up.

You need to see a Dr. Anemia can only be accurately diagnosed with a blood test

thats amazing! those are the same symptoms of being fat!

please get a blood check for anemia and possibly for SLE.

have your parents schedule an appointment with your doctor.

I have all of those symptoms and i'm very anemic. your best bet is to go get your blood checked to see if your hemoglobin and iron are low.
