rkeech made some good points, but it there still is a good chance you may have Type 1 diabetes.

If you are still in a fairly early stage, your blood sugar may be quite high, but you are not at the point of coma...yet. But that is a very fine theashhold. Onset can range from days in very small babies to months in adults. And anything in between for all ages.

I would call your doctor ASAP first thing tomorrow morning and get your test results. Your doctor also should have done a fingerstick screen in his office. If abnormally very high, you likely have diabetes. There is no reason not to do a fingerstick upon suspecting Type 1 diabetes. It is a simple, easy, quick, and cheap test. In fact, you can even buy your own meter and check at home. If your doctor has not done this, demand it tomorrow.

You may or may not have Type 1 diabetes. But I find it disturbing that a doctor should think it's acceptable to let a patient fall into a potentially life-threatening coma before diagnosing them.

And that has happened. There have been multiple cases where people with Type 1 diabetes were tested, and it took days to a week to get their results back to them. Sadly, many of those people ended up in a coma and/or DIED.

Type 1 diabetes can be a slower onset form in adults called LADA, but that does not mean an adult or teen cannot have an acute onset case. There is NO excuse for your doctor not doing a fingerstick check in the office.

Please follow up on this first thing in the morning. This is your life. You may or may not have Type 1 diabetes, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Best wishes.

most times it takes about a week to get your tests back. Ya if u are going to the bathroom often and drinking lots of water im sure u have diabetes to.

Depends on your doctor and the laboratory. I get lab results back the next day, and if there is a critical abnormality, I get a call from the laboratory, often at 2 or 3 AM!

The classic symptoms of full-blown Type I Diabetes Mellitus are polyphagia, polydypsia, polyuria and weight loss. Polyphagia means that the afflicted person eats large quantities of food and quickly becomes hungry. Polydypsia means that the diabetic is always thirsty and consumes large quantities of liquids. Polyuria means large volumes of urine, day and night. And the diabetic progressively loses weight, despite that large food intake. Fatigue is a common symptom, but there are many other causes of fatigue, so this is not evidence of diabetes.

Type I diabetics with full-blown diabetes also tend to get into serious trouble fairly quickly with ketoacidosis, and they wind up in the hospital undergoing some fairly intensive treatment. For this reason, I tend to believe you do not have the condition you have been thinking about. But if you do, you should, in short order, get a call from your doctor telling you you have an extremely high blood sugar and that you need to go to the hospital without delay.

To begin with what is known as glucose tolerance test is carried out . After drinking a measured quantity of glucose water the blood sugar level is tested at 1/2 hour interval for 2 hours. A good laboratory can give the results in a matter of one hour. The result will indicate if one has type 1 or type 2
diabetes.
