Is it very likely that I'll contract MRSA?!

Question: One of my good friends told me just today that she has MRSA, and has had it for about a year now. She said she's on antibiotics that prevents her from spreading it, but I'm worried that I'll get infected. The thing is, I've been using her makeup for about two weeks, and she's been using my hairbrush and straightener for about two months.

I know she said she's on antibiotics, but I also know that drugs don't work sometimes. Is it best to just stop sharing each other's stuff? What's the nicest way to tell her we can't do it anymore? Like I said before, she is a good friend.

Next time she reaches for your hairbrush(which never should be that people share hairbrush)..."hay, lets don't share hairbrush and makeup stuff...OK?"
Let her ask questions from there.
You should be ok. Just don't let any skin tear or cut get in contact with things ... MRSA can be on surfaces for quite a while...
I work at a hospital, lots of the employees there have MRSA..I just be sure and wash my hands a lot, use lotion afterwards so hands don't crack and dry out to attract MRSA
You will be fine.

I would get tested for MRSA because it is highly contagious even if under control with antibiotics. It is very likely that your friend has another condition that she may not have told you about because usually people who contract MRSA and have it for a long time but do not transmit the disease to others have immune system problems caused by diseases such as diabetes or cancer. If your friend is not worried about transmitting this disease to you it is obvoius that she knows you will not get it because your immune system is not as weak as hers

You should immediately stop sharing any sort of equipment with your friend. The nicest way of telling her, is to refer her to this website:
