Very chapped lips, chapstick not doing a thing?!

Question: I need something that can help me with my very cracked and chapped lips right now. I just got over the flu and this is my ending result!

I've used different chap sticks and none of them are working, and these lips are painful to eat with! A single stretch and my cracks just rip right open again!

Can you help me out?

you need to drink more water and in the meantime, use petroleum jelly (vaseline) on your lips.

vaseline.

Get Bath and Body Works Mentha Lip Shine. I love the Cinnamon and the Peppermint.

try vasilin on them

Use PURE PETROLIUM JELLY!!! Keep it on there all day long even while you eat or drink. Put it on when you go to bed.......Drink water like crazy...

Carmex - works wonders.

Try vaseline.

VASALINE!!!! put it on like a layer of wax!! it'll heal those cracks over night....:D

chapstick only protects, it doesn't heal. use Vaseline or Carmex and drink a lot more water.

vaseline should do the thing

I have the same problem. I just use Vaseline. A lot of Vaseline. And Chapstick will work if you apply a bunch.

BLISTEX Rules

Blistex is waaaaaay better than Chapstick. Try it.

carmex lip balm is the best for that.

Carmax!! I Think Its The Best...

You can try plain Vaseline, or Vaseline Lip Therapy, if they still make it. After using Vaseline on my lips for 2 nights, they were back to normal. I don't think that Chap Stick is supposed to heal dry lips. I think it's just a protection against drying from cold dry air. Hope this helps.

Ouch. I get that in the winter when its really cold and dry.
First you need to lightly brush your lips with a damp toothbrush, to remove the dead skin, and then just slather your lips with Vaseline. After a couple days you should be able to switch back to a regular chap stick, and it should help.
-Good luck!

try drinking LOTS of water. i get chapped lips when im not hydrated, and they're even worse when i get over a sickness but water always does the trick :))

if you're not already using Carmex for your lips, that stuff is really good.

Call your doctor and ask for a prescription for Nystatin, It is a topical steriod and it will take care of it quickly.
I had the same problem and it was horrible, the problem with over the counter chap sticks are they all have petrolatum which is a petroleum based product that will actually make them more dry when it wears off.. the Chapstick products only work as a preventative measure so avoid them getting chapped..
Also , try to pay attention to licking your lips. .when they become super chapped and rough , we tend to lick them more because innitially it feels good but It is really bad and it is easy to get into the habit of licking them .. so try and pay attention and stop doing that..
the Nystatin is a huge help!

I've had that problem before - this is what I've done in the past - exfoliate your lips (gently!) with a soft bristle toothbrush for about a minute to get rid of as much of the dried skin as possible, then apply petroleum jelly to your lips. I usually did this every night and, depending on how bad your lips are actually chapped, you should see definite results in about a week or two. Hope this helps!

BTW - you might want to make sure that the toothbrush your using is not your regular toothbrush.

blistex(moist) beeswax or vaseline

I would say ignore all the calls for vaseline, that never worked for me, and chapstick is a stop-gap at best. You want a real moisturizer. Get a container of eucerin creme, and put a good amount on your lips, leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rub it in. It'll be fixed quick.

Mary-Kay has a really good lip exfoliant that costs about $16. This will remove all of the dead skin and dead surface cells off of the lips.

YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!

Hey, you need to get Blisters Ointment, it is smooth and easy to apply from the tip of the tube, I use it alot, it conditions the lips, stops cracked sore lips and even heals fever blisters.

it is great

Blistex Ointment, not the blistex chap lip stick

its in a little red and white box, hangs up where the chapstick it, try it, you will love it and will never use anything else again

Chappy to Chappy..

and its not an ole think ointment, it is white and creamy

you can actually put lotion on your lips just make sure it doesn't have mineral oil in it.

Use Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment, it really works and it gives your lips a cool sensation and feels really good. =)
