I had heard of it once before when a young man, a part of the crew on my race car started throwing up blood like a vampire and the hospital pumped platelets into him like it was saline, he recovered and said that he had a pre lukemia condition , but I always believed he had lukemia and got chemo and was fortunate enough to recover.
How does one get pre-any thing, I thought you contracted an illness or not.

I'm not clear on this, but I understand that sometimes docs can detect changes in cells that are known to lead on to full blown diseases like cancer.
Being pre something would mean there is considerable factors going on that it may develope (i.e. in weather terms, it's a thunderstorm watch vs warning) I was "pre-diabetic" if I hadn't of lost weight and did something about it than I would've been a diabetic. To have pre-leukemia meant that she had the cells that may have started taking shape of leukemia.
