"Laryngitis". Depending on how bad it is you will need to go to the hospital. Also, most causes are due to viruses such as common cold & usually resolve on their own. Signs of infection include malaise, headache, lethargy and altered voice tone & pitch. It also hurts to talk & depending on bad it is you may even have difficulty phonating. On some occasions, it is a bacterium (dont want to list them all) & this can get nasty especially if you are diabetic or immunosuppressed for whatever reasons. You will have fever, throat pain, difficulty talking and can feel really ill. Sometimes, there is a feeling of "lump in the throat" feeling. Rarely it can progress to breathing difficulty due to abscess formation which is when it needs specialist care.

So, in short see your local doctor at least once so that you know which kind of laryngitis it is. Take care!

the swell, sore throat and sometimes a film/coating on the back of ones throat... salt water is the usual treatment, as this cuts the coating and provides a level or throat soothing.

if it last longer than two days, or fever, or yellowish-whitetish flem then go get checked.
