What does it mean when the spot is rough?!

Question: For a couple of months, the area where my scar is and around it has been really rough and red. What does it mean? It's on my face and the scar is caused by my dermatologist surgically removing a protuding mole.

Suggestions? I had that mole removed a year ago.

i think that means you have dried skin around the damaged skin cells. the best cream i no that i also use is cetaphyl. it ausome =). or you could be a reaction to something you ate. but it would never hurt to see the doctor that proformed the surgry. you always should stay on the safe side when it comes to moles and haveing them removed. if there is a disformation or a funny shape or discoloration then you should see a doctor immediatly for it could be a skin disese or a form of skin cancer. (the same thing happened with my aunt and they caught it in time. it was melanoma but she had it removed in time and it was with a mole) so you should deffinatly have it looked at. hope all is well and hope it gets better.

i know it has been a while...but the goop in an aloe vera plant couldnt hurt...and vit e pure oil at night with a bandaid..

You may be a keloid scarer. Basically whenever you get cut, your scar will be bumpy or raised. The keloid can also have a pink/purple tint. There's really not much you can do, but using Mederma may help (you can get it at Wal-Mart or Target). This is just MY guess, if it starts swelling, burning or itching, you may want to call your doc. Hope this helps.
