HELP! Why is my head so itchy?!?!

Question: For the past two days my head has been really itchy.

In the past couple hours, it got so bad that I have weeping sores on my head (mainly in the back and right on top of my scalp.)

Whats going on? Why is this happening, and is there any way to get it to stop?

If you have any questions for me, ask them and I'll be happy to answer.

It could be folliculitis, scalp psoriasis, eczema, or some form of dermatitis ... almost impossible to know without a visual diagnosis from a doctor and possible culturing of one of the sores. As a temporary solution, you can buy a product, like Scalpicin -- there are two types -- one that contains salicylic acid and one hydrocortisone. You could apply both for maximum relief. You could probably also benefit from cycling your shampoos -- I would recommend also using Neutrogena's T-Sal Shampoo (with 3% salicylic acid) for a few days instead of your Head & Shoulders, then continue to use intermittently along with your Head & Shoulders. This regimen should help regardless of whether it's dermatitis, psoriasis, folliculitis, or eczema. If it happens to be fleas or some type of mite, then this won't help, but hopefully it's not that. Good luck! Try washing your other areas which are itching with Nizoral 1% shampoo and seeing if those improve. If you get no improvement, you need to see a doctor.

Tics, flees, mites perhaps, any other sorts of bugs I guess it could be.

i would check with your doctor, could be psoriasis or eczema, which are both really bad skin conditions. i have eczema and it got really bad in between my toes, it was as u describe, horrible feeling and the itching never went away, the doctor can diagnose and prescribe u something for the problem. if u cant go to the doc, get anti-fungal cream, and rub it where it itches, i know doesnt make sense, but it worked for me.

It sounds like lice, treat for lice and if it doesn't clear up then go to the doctor.
