Frostbite help?!

Question: I think I might have frostbite. Two days ago, I went skiing. After the first run, my ears felt hard and numb. After going inside (and putting sunblock on one of them), there was an excruciating burning pain in both ears. Now one is almost completely normal (a little tender), but the other one feels bruised to the touch and it itches some. Is this frostbite and how do I treat it?

I'm a skier too and it sounds like I had the exact same thing. This isn't frostbite. Very serious frostbite may destroy the skin, turning it black within hours, killing it. I don't know the conditions when you were skiing but what you have may be a combination of frostnip, sunburn, and windburn.

Your ears should be fine, mine were! I just put a little aloe cream on me ears help with the mild pain and keep them from itching. Of course if this doesn't get better, see a doc. But if it's what I experienced you should be good as new in a couple of days. And please! cover up those ears well next time you ski!!
