How many times a person can get heart attach in his/her lifetime?!

Question: I heard, a per person can get heart attack for 3 times in the lifetime. Am i correct? Suppose if a person got very mild heart attack for the first time. Is it countable in these 3 times? Please reply me if you are sure and knew about this very well. Thanks.

While I'm not a cardiologist, a limit on the number of times a person can get heart attacks in their lives seems like a joke to me.

What a heart attack is is a hardening of fatty deposits in your arteries, leading to your heart being starved of oxygen and nutrients. This leads to the death of some heart muscles.

From that description, a limit doesn't make much sense. Your question worries me though, if you think you've had a heart attack (or a friend has had one), get to the hospital and get it checked out! If you've had one heart attack, EVEN A MILD ONE, you could be at a much greater risk for getting another one.

If you've had one or think you might be at risk for one, go talk to a doctor. Your primary care physician would be a good starting point (they'll be able to tell whether you need more tests), but if that's not an option just go ask a pharmacist, they typically have great medical advice. If possible it is much better to see a doctor though.

In order to help prevent future heart attacks as much as possible, it's important to exercise daily (U.S. Gov't recommendations have recently been upped from 30 mins, 3 times a week, to 45 minutes to an hour a day) to strengthen your circulatory system, eat a healthy (lower fat, and focusing more on the good fats, as well as replacing sugars / processed carbs like white bread with whole grain breads, rice, and vegetables and fruits), and (after discussion with a doctor!) beginning an aspirin regimen like taking low-dose bayer aspirin (listed in sources) once a day. It's important to discuss that last one with your doctor, as it may not be necessary and it does impact the way your body works.

I hope some of what I said will be helpful, even though I rambled most of it.

Some people die with the first heart attack, others have quite a few. 3 is not a magic number with heart attacks. A person could have more than 3. It depends on the severity, the availability of medical care, and other health issues the person might have.

People can have more than three heart attacks, or they can die of the first one, It depends on many factors - including family history, diet, exercise, stress and age.

Generally, men start having heart attacks younger than women, but women are more likely to die of their first one.

The severity of the heart attack depends on a lot of things, but fast medical treatment is the best indicator that someone will live through the incident.

yes, the 3 times include mild to more severe form

depends on how severe the heart attack was
my grandfather had several minor ones during his life, his first was when he was 51 according to my mom, causing slight damage to the heart muscles each time
it wasn't until he was well into his 80's that he had "the big one" and passed away
I can remember him having at least 4 minor attacks when I was growing up

Distinguishing between a TTA, Heart Attack, and Stroke is the best help in that direction. Try www.webmd.com for more information on the signs and effects of these. Everyone's health is effected by many things including family health history, diet, exercise, and individual health care. Heart attacks are caused by a number of factors. How many one can survive is anyone's guess, but regular check-ups can prevent most heart attacks.

It really depends on the severity of the heart attack and how quickly help was obtained.

The heart has a natural "buffer" in the amount of cells that can be damaged during a heart attack. During a heart attack, these "buffer" cells die from oxygen deprivation. That is the beauty of the heart's design... there are cells that can die off and still have the heart operate normally. However, when these buffer cells die, you have less of a buffer for the next heart attack.

Now, it is sometimes possible for these cells to grow back, or survive. It all depends on the severity of the attack and how quickly help was found. It has been known that people could have several heart attacks and still survive. Or, they could have one massive attack and die on that first one.

It all depends...

Doctor says most people don't survive the 3rd attack. If the patient does survive the 3rd attack, when the bill comes,he will get a heart attack.(laugh)

you can have alot my brothers grandad had about 5-7. it does weaken your heart everytime you had them, i suppose it depends on your diet and whether you exercise properly.

You can have an indefinite number of heart attacks, depending on availability of medical care, the intensity of the attacks, the time between attacks, and one's diet.

But 3 is usually the point where most people kick it.
