What is the highest blood sugar level anyone has seen?!

Question: My father recently went to the hospital and his blood sugar level was 1126 and he drove himself to the hospital. He never went into a coma or was unconscience. Dr's have gotten it down to between 130 and 300 varying but has anyone ever seen this before?

I once transported a child from one ER to another (one that was a pediatric hospital) because he was admitted to the originated ER with a blood sugar of 1200. If I hadn't seen the lab report, I wouldn't have believed it.

Needless to say, this was an emergency transport, with full lights and sirens.

What's funny as the kid was was awake, talking, laughing and asking a million questions. He showed outward signs of DKA but he had it. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Wow.

EMT

My mom used to run in the 600's before she got her insulin pump.

Michael Dougherty at 12 years old in November 1995 was found to have a blood sugar level of 2,350 and was still conscious. The normal fasting blood sugar range is between 80-110.

(I was searching the net and this info was also new for me)

Yes, My brother had an episode once where his shot up to 1300 from drinking booze. Put him in the hospital for a couple day's until they got it back to normal. He Passed away 3 years ago from complications of a Heart-Condition he was also being treated for. He had several different ailments, And was pretty sick most of the time. His suffering is over at least. I sure miss him at times. Anyways, Yes, It gets that high at times, But there is usually a reason for it? What did your Dad do to make his shoot up that high? He will have to be more carefull with that. Glad he is doing better. Hope this answered your question, Take Care

When I was 16 yrs old I got food sickness and my sugar went to 1600. I ended up in a diabetic coma for almost a month. Luckily that was 22 yrs ago and I haven't had any blood sugars that high since.

1500, but thats the day I became diabetic. the meter i have wont show a sugar over 500 it just says "high". and i had the same problem. my sugars really never stay in the 100's its always been 200+, and ive been a diabetic for 10 years now.

no but a couple weeks ago I felt really bad and..loopy, you could say. I tested and it said HI. I was out of it and started laughing and said "hi there!!" Then my friends took me to the school nurse... I've never felt so embarressed (well, after I was better..). I should have realized how in trouble I was... but extreme highs and lows do tend to mess with your head..or mine at least.

This really not a proud number comparison, but you asked. My first HbA1c was 12.1 and my daily glucose could not be measured because I was off scale; 600+. My meter erred out.

The better comparison is my BA1c 5.6 for the last 270 days with daily readings; morning 110 and evening 85.

Best Wishes.

oh my gsoh. I didn;t think anyone could get that high.
one time I got to 700
