They won't be mad! The government wants as many people as possible to have a test because catching type 2 diabetes early (ideally b4 you even start noticing symptoms) can greatly reduce the risk and severity of complications etc. Lots of pharmacies do them for free now, but Lloyds were advertising it quite a lot. I think you do usually need to go and ask about it and they'll make you an appointment to come back (which is silly considering it only takes a few seconds!) The test involves pricking your finger and taking a very small blood sample - you'll get your result within a few seconds! It's nothing to worry about - people like me with type 1 diabetes often do about 10 of these tests every day!! It's not a conclusive test - if it was possitive you'd need to go and get further tests from your gp, but it's def a good place to start and will put your mind at rest if you're worried! Good luck xxxxx

most chemists offer this sevice free - but so does your GP as for making an appointment at a chemist I would check first.

theyjust take a blood test i went to the doctors and they sent me for a blood test and it should not cost anything!
