It's a wonderful thing you are doing for your aunt. You must love her greatly. You are a hero in a sense, I have seen some patients not even have visitors so you really impress me.
The 24hour urine test checks for protein in your urine.
Having protein in your urine could mean a diseased kidney or it could be meds you are taking or an infection.
These have a potential to delay the donation.
I am sorry.
But wait for the 2nd results and each facility is different. Talk to the doctors and ask them how they are interpreting the results and how that affects you and your donation to your aunt.
God bless. Warm wishes to your aunt.

Edit:
30 mg and 299 mg --usually means a small amount of protein
300mg and above usually is a sign of significant kidney damage.

You are at 30 which is a small amount. I know you are concerned and it makes sense but I think waiting to hear from your aunt's medical team is the most important thing.

Please post the results from the 2nd test. All the best.

Watch your diet the day before and of the test. That can affect it.I wouldn't donate a kidney to anyone,so be very sure of your choice. What if you were in an accident int the future and your one remaining kidneys was damaged beyond repair? Then you'd need a transplant yourself. What if you became diabetic in the future and you really needed both of your kidneys because neither one of them was working at full capacity.I know you want to do the right thing,by doing this, but your own future health could be at stake.Do you know your own future diet will be affected in the amount of protein you can have? And that alcohol will be a thing of the past?I know we love our family members and want to help them any way we can,but to do so at the risk of our future health just isn't sensible. Please reconsider for your own sake. And this is not selfish for you to think about.
