Is ventonlin bad for the heart?!
Question: My friend keeps smoking near me ( I'm asthmatic) and when I take a whiff of my ventolin, she tells me I'm gonna have a heartattack!!! But yet, she won't stop smoking around me...go figure

Ventolin, albuterol, is a beta 2 specific bronchodilator. It targets the beta 2 receptors in your respiratory system. These are the same receptors that are stimulated during an adrenaline rush. In both cases, your heart rate and blood pressure can increase along with some other side effects. The unneeded stress is not good for the heart but being around the second hand smoke is much worse for you and extreemely bad for her.
Nope, the Ventolin (Albuterol/Proventil) will NOT cause you to have a heart attack, but her smoking around you will. Find a friend who's more considerate about making you sick.
only in the case of an overdose (rare) or if you have a heart condition that contraindicates the use of albuterol.
