You need to wait for the results of the scan. Yahoo Answers is the worst place to ask for advice, you will get all kinds of scaremongering. You're bound to be worried, but getting 20 conflicting answers on here is only going to make things worse. Please try not to worry too much, you'll get the results soon enough then your partner's colo-rectal surgeon will discuss his options.

Polyps or lesions of the bowel can be benign (non-cancerous), pre-cancerous or malignant (cancerous). Samples of tissue can give mixed results; hence further analysis.

Doctor's (Oncologists) will examine and treatment will be dependent upon their findings.

The earlier the detection, the better chance for a cure and the survival rates are high for early detection.

A polyp is a benign (non cancerous) growth, doctors will remove or take swaps from the polyp to confirm if it is a special type of polyp that can or has become malignant and will spread cancer. Abnormal results doesn't ultimately mean your partner has cancer of the bowel but your partner may have to undergo more tests to confirm what and why these abnormal results have came from.

Sadly the worst scenario is that your partner has bowel cancer and you should speak to your own gp who will advise of treatments and how to handle these situations. Polyps very rarely lead to cancer but it is a possibility

This is the Respiratory Section, sir.

it could mean cancer
however alot of them come back abnormal to not being
sometimes the test is not sure so they run it again
i wouldnt worry about it untill the test are all done
