My girlfriend and I are monogamous, should we use condoms?!

Question: My girlfriend and I have been together for over half a year now. We are monogamous and have never had sexual partners besides each other. Since she started on the pill, we haven't been using condoms. I have two questions:
1) Is there a risk of STI infection between two people who have never had sex with any other partners?
2) If she has been late taking her pills by an hour or two on multiple, but non-sequential occasions, what risk of pregnancy is there?

If you are 100% sure that your partner is only having sex with you. You don't have to use a condom.
There is no way you can get a STI if you and your partner is 100% faithful.
Apart from fungal infections which you can get by sitting on a surface which is contaminated. Or hand transmission to the pubic area.

If you have the slightest doubt about your partner you should get tested .

In regards to pregnacy birth control pills are'nt 100% effective even when used correctly.
Your girl could be pregnant if she is inconsistent with the pill.
the condom is a good birth control method.
Your girlfriend should try to study her cycle .Every woman have a cycle, some 28,26,30 days she should find out which one she is . A woman can only get pregnant on the 12th -18th day of her cycle.
In this time you should either avoid sex or use a condom.
To prevant pregancy.
Remember A sperm cell can live up to 48hours.

Stay safe ......

are you sure youa re both MONOGAMOUS? Because THAT is problem, many people say theya re but slip! Also you need the pill EVERY DAY or risk a pregnancy, and yes i would use condoms, you never know and the consecuences can be deadly

1) There is not a huge risk but better safe then sorry. Next time you both go to the doctor ask to be tested for STD's and then you will know.

2) Birth control pills, even when used correctly, are not 100% effective. If you are not ready for a baby then you should use both birth control pills and condoms.

You should really go to a local clinic for good information if you have questions like these. The answer to both of your questions is probably no. However, I'm not a counselor or a doctor.

You can get good information from a local clinic.

1st of all, you NEVER really know if your partner is really monogamous with you!

2nd, the pill is NOT 100% effective. Protect your self! Think about how your life may change by having to raise a child when you're not ready, or WORSE, having some illness you can't get rid of!

1) There is a slight risk but the circumstances are rare. For instance, if you had a cold sore on your lip, it would be possible to transfer the herpes virus to her directly-oral foreplay- or to yourself and then to her during intercourse(not likely unless your pick at the lip sore and then put your hands in your pants.) As I said, a slight but very real risk.
2) A few hours usually would not decrease effectiveness of an oral contraceptive. Even a missed day can oftan be made up safely by taking two pills the next day. After that, an alternative method of contraception is indicated until the next cycle of pills is started. See the written insert included with her pills for further info.

yes, always use a rubber. Who knows, you might not be the only Dog who has licked or eaten that Kat.

If both partners are "clean" and "monogamous", then there probably is No risk of STIs...! However, it does not spawn out of the air...sex and/or skin-to-skin contact. Good body hygiene and oral care is the #1 factor in your case. But, I still would use condoms and get her off the pill. Don't use any lubricant on the condoms...they will break and you will get her pregnant. Since I sense that you 2 are committed...then love her to the end of the earth and use a Condom! Good Luck :O)

The pill is more effective than condoms...but nothing is 100% protection from pregnancy.

The only way the 2 of you would be at risk for STDs is if one of you had warts or cold sores (not necessarily on your genitals) because of both of those things are contagious to the genitals and become HPV(warts) or Herpes(cold sores).
OR if either of you are unfaithful - there would be a risk.

Good luck & trust each other!
