Something really personall......std.?!

Question: I'm 17 and it seems to me that I have developed genital warts. I have only had sex with one person, twice. And it has been almot 2 years since then. I have noticed the warts growing slowly for quite a while now but I have been way to scared and ignorant to say anything. I would like to go to a clinic but I am afraid of the cost, the pain, and my parents finding out. usually people would say "suuure they'll understand and be there for you" but my parents are not like that. They will critisize me and tell everyone about it.
the only person who knows other than me is my best friend of 8 years. She has been bugging me to go to a clinic ever since i have told her but I am scared. I have decided to go this weekend but I am terrified. So terrified I want to cry.
I'm scared of the pain.
the cost.
what they'll think/say.
I'm scared of everything.
I wouldnt know what to say or how to say.

i really need some advice.
PLEASE.

I agree not all parents are "picture perfect" and aren't always there for you. If they aren't going to be helpful - then i agree - don't tell them!
You've got HPV which causes warts - could've been from someone's HAND down yonder - didn't have to be from actual sex. Warts are contagious and embarrassing.
The health clinic can "burn them off". It sounds horrible & painful, but I've had it done & it's just a bit UNcomfortable - not actually painful.
They can come back....you have HPV for life
And BTW - don't let all those "gardisil commercials' scare the hell outta you - remember they're trying to sell a vaccine....not educate you (don't get your education from TV) they are making it sound totally AWFUL and DEADLY, but it's not!
Good luck

im not going to lie to you you parents will get upset and the cost will be bad and if you tell your parents about it im shure it will help and if you dont tell them it will get worse and there will be absoutely no help so it is just better to go to the clinic and tell your parents and as for tha paine you will just half to deal with it im sorry

I can understand My husband was diagnosed with HIV and i had to get tested as well i cryed the whole way there and was freaking out. Im glad it was negitive but at the same time i dont think people will judge you unless they are ignorant. That is the same thing i have to tell my husband over and over he is terriffied of telling his family for fear of them thinking hes nasty or somthing. All that matters is your health the cost is pretty bad for the blood tests for HIV but with warts they should be about to look at them as see what it is and that will be alot cheeper. Its great to have some one with you while you are waiting that helped me alot. as for pain im not sure what they would do other then give you medication and maybe freeze them and thats not to painful ive have a wart on my foot frozen off and it wasnt to bad. i hope all things go well for you.

A lot of health departments provide HPV (genital warts) screening and will do it for free without telling your parents due to confidentiality requirements. You will most likely get a full STD work up and a pap smear.

If you have HPV, they can help you manage it, and it is possible that HPV will go away on its own. But it is better to have it looked at by a physician who can advise you. HPV is a very, very common sexually transmitted disease. At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection. Most people who have a genital HPV infection do not know they are infected. The virus lives in the skin or mucous membranes and usually causes no symptoms. Some people get visible genital warts, or have pre-cancerous changes in the cervix, vulva, or anus. Very rarely, HPV infection results in anal or genital cancers. Since HPV is linked to cancer, and you will need to make sure that you get regular pap smears to keep your female parts healthy.

I'm sorry that you're in that situation. I know its tough. There are clinics like the health department that will do tests for you and give you an exam. They cost next to nothing when you are under 18. And they absolutely cannot tell your parents due to confidentiality. Check for your local health department.

I would stop by the local public health or family planning place in your area, alot of times it is free, especially for girls your age. You could call them first to see what they think you should do, and they wont call your parents. But I would just call a public health office and get their advice. When I was your age I got my birth control for free from there, when I turned 18 I had to start paying for it but it was a small amont compared to the real price!!

Good luck and I am soo sorry! Kick his ***!
