Can a person get a disease from...?!

Question: ... sharing soap??? I know soap is meant to kill bacteria and germs, butcould a disease be spread through soap? This makes me worry, because a friend of mine, they have an std, and well, the soap they use to clean themselves in the shower, well they left it by the sink in the bathroom. I had to use the washroom, washed my hands with this soap, and now im worried. I know diseases can be passed through body fluids, but can soap spread diseases???

You cannot pick up a STD on soap. Most of these germs cannot live very long outside the body anyway.

no, soap makes bacteria of any kind too slick to stick, that is how all soaps work, they don't kill the bacteria, they wash them away. As long as you wash and rinse well and dry thoroughly, you can't get anything from sharing soap.

You've had multiple reassurances from those of us in the know, seems like you just want something to worry about.

Just kidding... unless is antibacterial soap, then yes, bars of soap can pick up nasty grimy things. That's why most public bathrooms dont use bars of soap any more.

no chance

I'm the mother of four and if soap was carrying diseases in my house we would all be totally screwed...lol....

No, seriously - listen to the nurses above and rest easy knowing your hands don't have any STDs.... ;>)

Not unless you're showering together - or very very shortly afterwards...

But everytime you pick up soap or a towel....think about the LAST thing he probably washed (a**ss?)
and the FIRST thing you wash (usually your face!)
***also a quote from Joey on Friends....haha
