DIET is KEY.

*don't do and/or eliminate as much as possible*

-soda
-sugar/corn syrup
-meat/dairy/eggs
-processed food
-fast food
-(partially) hydrogenated oils (almost in everything)
-additives
-fried foods
-white bread/flour

-beer, to a lesser extent (if you must drink, drink a little wine)

*eat as much as possible*

-SALADS (at least, 1 a day)
-fruit (not canned)
-fruit juice (100%)
-organic
-whole foods
-raw foods

it may take a while for your system to cleanse, but:

-be consistent
-exercise (lower body-running/sit-ups)
-osteopathic adjustments (spine)
-and make an effort to REALLY enforce those dietary guidelines as much as possible; not just a little, but a real effort. read those labels. if you can't afford to shop at a health food store or your parents don't eat that way, be prepared to get a job.

You want to keep a 80% alkaline to 20% acid balance in your system; which might be difficult at first, but stick with it (it may take a few months), but, I guarantee, you'll see an improvement; the longer you stick with it, the better your complexion will continue to get.

proactiv

get on proactive it gets worse before it gets better so you gotta keep using it! it worked for me!

I feel you darling..... I have struggled with it for awhile now. I ave been to different dermatologists.... the one I am seeing now has told me not to spend a fortune on all of these expensive products... she said to used cetaphil face wash... the cetaphil moisturizer.... and she prescribed me to acutane... it is a very harsh drug.... and has many side effects that COULD occur... but so far so good...GOOD LUCK!!

same here with me .

i find the best solutions are :
1.getting rid of bangs if you have them.
2.drinking PLENTY of water .
3.washing face 2-4 times a day .
4. not touching your face too often .

Welcome to the club!! I am 66 years old & still get break outs! I've had it since a teenager. I use neutrogena face wash. It's not soap. Soaps make it worse. Use a face wash specifically for acne. Good luck!

I've heard tetracycline or other antibiotics work, but I don't have personal experience with them. You'd need a prescription of course.

First I have to say Proactive is not a good solution as it is more of an irritant that anything. People with an acne problem do not need to exfoliate daily! This will only make skin worse. The more you irritate your skin the worse it will get.
Everyone who has an acne problem please visit this site.

I found this when I was doing a search for solutions to clear up my own acne. Out of everything I have tried Dr. Kern's "Regimen" works hands down. The best part is the low cost and the ability to find all the products OTC if needed (but I chose to prchase his BP for $12). At the very least from visiting the site you will gain more insight into acne and what you can do.
I hope this helps! All the best to everyone who is suffering!

It compares several most effective acne treatments.
Good luck.

Firstly using substances derived from vitamin A like retin-a or tazarotene, to reduce inflammation of the skin and to unplug pores. Retin-A can cause skin reddening at first but this is quite normal as the skin's blood supply is improved and younger looking skin begins to appear presenting a youthful complexion. Using a product that includes zinc will also help the vitamin a function better.

Mix lemon juice, rose water and glycerin in equal quantities. Apply daily before retiring to bed. Eat a lot of green vegetables like spinach, cabbage, beans, peas, lettuce, etc. A salad and fruit should be taken daily. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.
