dr hilary jones recommended a tot of whiskey, the hottest curry you can stand and plenty of rest.
i always find that frequent hand washing with antibacterial hand wash (not ocd frequent) shortens the duration of a cold, i'm convinced that constant hand to face contact re-infects you and makes it worse. snuggle up on the sofa unda a duvet with a good film and some chicken soup. it wont cur you but you'll 'feel' better.

honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice all natural and gets rid of it in a few hours

this is what I do and it works ................... Buy some "Zicam " Airborn " and Vit "C" take 2 to 3 of each , each day and in about 3 hours you will start to feel better, but keep it up for at least 3 days anyway. ..... If you start this regiment as soon as you feel that cold coming you wont even get it.....

honey, lemon, ginger.
hot drinks.
hot bath/shower.
sleep.

paracetamol.

Really, if it's a genuine cold there's nothing that will get rid of it. It's a viral infection and will go in its own good time - usually three days coming, three days with you and three days going.

However, there are many things that will make you FEEL better even if you really aren't. Loads of over the counter medicines will help in this regard, but read the labels and be careful not to mix them or you could end up with something like a paracetamol overdose.

The basic "cure" is rest, warmth and plenty of liquids to help your body do its job and fight it off.

Sadly , no.
Your immune system will take it's time to irradicate the virus , just help it along with taking in Vit C , in the form of citrus fruit or juices.
How long a virus takes to leave your body is determined on if your system recognises the cold virus. Your system will take longer if it's a 'new' virus to you.
I got a cold two weeks ago but disappeared within 3 days but I'm left still left with the residue.

get some real lemons chop up 1 lemon add honey and take it three times a day and take panadol tablets 2 every 4 hours don't take more than 8 in 24 hours. wrap up and get into a warm bed. rub some Vick cream on your chest and eucalyptus oils on your pillows.
