Do you "swell up" down there with genital herpes?!

Question: Is it normal to swell up down there, or would that be something else. Thanks.

Swelling IS normal, herpes is an infection of the veins, in which they get inflammed and cause outbreaks from creating and the equivalent of an ulcer in the vein.. Most of the people here have no idea, alot of them dont even have herpes and they are trying to give advice for something they dont even understand.

You need to see a gyno. Period.

THATS GROSE

Not normal. Swelling can be anything from an allergic reaction to something serious. It is time to see a doctor.

for a herpes outbreak yes. with the first few outbreaks u may swell u. i have herpes had my genitals swelled up like a balloon and was really painful for my first out break. if thats all u are experiencing, it could be something else.
the sores don't turn into blisters they scab over and heal, the don't oooz liquid.
the blisters eventually pop and heal over.

genital herpes looks like little cold sores

Someone with genital herpes may first notice itching or pain, followed by sores that appear a few hours to a few days later. The sores, which may appear on the vagina, penis, scrotum, buttocks, or anus, start out as red bumps that soon turn into red, watery blisters. The sores may make it very painful to urinate. The sores may open up, ooze fluid or bleed, and then heal within the next 2 to 4 weeks. The swelling is not normal. I would go see your OB asap.

Good luck

It really depends on the person. I have herpes and have never "swelled up" during an outbreak. Some people do though. Your best bet is to go see your doctor and talk to them about your concerns. Good luck to you sweetie.
