Does Accutane clear up acne on the back too?!
Question: Yes -- I took Accutane four times myself, and the acne I experienced on my back was nearly completely "cured" the first time. (Technically, this a permanent or long-term remission and not a cure -- but Accutane is as close as you get to a "cure" for acne.) The three other times I took it were primarily for facial acne. Most people don't require this many courses of treatment, but I had very oily skin and very resistant acne. It doesn't work for 100% of patients, but it does work for about 90%+ ... and most people's acne does not return nearly as bad as it was before even for those who it does not provide a permanent remission of acne. However, no medication out there works 100% of the time for any condition -- why people expect Accutane to be different (and to always work) puzzles me.
To correct a different post, Accutane (isotretinoin) is *not* the same thing as vitamin A (retinol). Accutane is a pharmaceutical derivative of Vitamin A. If you could go buy Vitamin A and take that as a cure for acne, no one would pay for Accutane.
I experienced no serious long-term side effects from Accutane -- and most people don't. Over two million people have taken this medication. There are some potential complications from the medication which should be monitored closely, but these are manageable and usually subside if it is necessary to stop the treatment. Good luck! Accutane is a drug you take orally therefore it gets in your blood stream therefore it exerts it's effect all over your body so the answer is yes.
Yes.. Accutane is indicated for severe acne, called nodulocystic acne, and is quite effective. There are some risks associated with this medicine and you should understand these risks. The treatment should be prescribed only by a dermatologist, should be short term, and you should be followed closely. The good thing about Accutane is that is does actually cure acne. Way the risks vs. the benefits.
Vitamin A is pretty much the same thing as accutane look it up!
Accutane is super good for some people, but it has horrible side-effects that are long term. Not just while your taking it, but for the rest of your life. Also its certainly not a 'cure'. Some people just see short term results and some never see them. I have taken it 4 times and still have acne problems. I also have chronic joint pain, back problems, and depression from taking it. So while it has lessened my acne, it hasnt cured it, but gave me a whole another crop of illnesses
