the pills help exercising to lower blood pressure.

Bet you can't get him to walk either? If you can get him to go for walks with you for "your" health! an hour every day as fast as you can walk. Start slow and build up to just under jogging speed.

food plans don't seem to help much with blood pressure. With other diseases they do, but not this one. At least for me they don't work.

Also some of the tablets the doctors prescribe don't work for everyone!! ACE and ARB didn't lower my blood pressure a bit.

Have you tried any natural treatments?

He should really talk to his doctor before not taking the medicine. Some dietary things you can do to lower your blood pressure though: reduce or eliminate your intake of salt, caffeine, and alcohol.

a healthy diet and exercise regimen is good for cardiovascular health. Lowering the amount of sodium in your diet helps with BP issues but sometimes high BP is just genetic. He must keep a close eye it with the help of his doctor. If the doctor prescribes meds, TAKE THEM.

High BP is nothing to mess with and the inconvenience of taking a med every day of your life is nothing compared to the inconvenience of a MI (heart attack)!!!

He needs to take his medication. My father was like this and no matter how healthy he was his blood pressure was still elevated so he has to take it no matter what.

Although he may feel fine he should listen to the doctor cause he could have a stroke or even die. They call high blood pressure the 'SILENT KILLER"

Treatment begins with changes you can make to your lifestyle to help lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease (see the box below). If these changes don't work, you may also need to take medicine.

Even if you must take medicine, making some changes in your lifestyle can help reduce the amount of medicine you must take.

Lifestyle changes
Don't smoke cigarettes or use any tobacco product.
Lose weight if you're overweight.
Exercise regularly.
Eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and is low in fat.
Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake.
Try relaxation techniques or biofeedback.
