HPV transmission?!

Question: If I kiss a man's thighs and lower abdomen, but not his penis, and he is infected with HPV, can I get warts on my lips and face? B/c there are so many different strands of this virus, does it need genitalia to pass that certain virus, or what?

Just wondering how that would work.

Genital HPV is passed on through genital contact, most often during vaginal and anal sex. A person can have HPV even if years have passed since he or she had sex. Most infected persons do not realize they are infected or that they are passing the virus to a sex partner.

HPV lives in the genitals, intercourse in not necessary to pass on the virus. However you can not pass it from his thigh to your lips, HPV cannot live in these areas. If there is a wart on a different type of the body (other than the genitals) those are caused by a completely different strain usually the same ones that cause plantar warts.

If any part of your body is relatively near a partner's lesion, you can get infected. It is not a given, but not worth a risk.
Confine your activities to areas that have remote possibility of affectation.

Additionally, please get the vaccine. Today, if not sooner.

I believe so if he has the strain that causes warts. The warts are not always located on the genitalia but within the nether region and mouth. Did you know condoms will not protect you from getting HPV.

All you need is skin-to-skin contact - it doesn't have to be just on the sexual organs. Microscopic warts can be anywhere near his area, so you may be at risk even if you can't see symptoms.

The strains of HPV that cause warts generally aren't the high risk strains that can cause cervical Cancer.

warts can be on his thigh so yes it could pass to your mouth

You can get the virus anywhere there is skin to skin contact with are affected.
