When switching face wash/moisturizer, is it normal to break out initially??!

Question: I do not have acne, but do get the occasional pimple every now and then. To prevent breakouts I usually use a face wash designed to treat blemishes.
I noticed that I still seemed to have some very small, bumps (not really pimples or blackheads... not sure what to call them) on my chin.
My face has also been a tiny bit dry lately from the cold weather, so I bought a new moisturizer that also is an "Anti-acne" formula.
Everytime I start using a new facial product, though, whether it be anti-acne or not, I tend to break out even more.
I'm not sure if this is normal initially and will go away in a few days once my face gets "used" to the product; I usually get so annoyed that I give up rather than sticking it out to find out.
I've noticed this happening with several different face scrubs and moisturizer brands over the past year... so it's not just one brand in particular.
Any ideas?

Yes, that happens to me too. Not so much with face wash, but definitely when I switch moisturizers. It has always gone away within a few days for me, except when I used acne cream that was too strong. But that irritated my skin immediately, hurt and caused a rash.

Depends... When you start anything you usually get a breakout the first few days before it gets better.

It's normal to break out when switching, but it's worth it to find out which face soap works the best for your skin.

you might be allergic to some of the contents... Try talking to your doctor about it, or just sticking through and see if it stops. Try a "sensitive skin" brand moisturizer and try that.

There might be ingredients in what you're using that your face has a bad reaction to. For instance, I can't use anything with lanolin - as old as I am, I still break out. You may have to experiment with different moisturizers to find the right one. Sometimes if it's hypoallergenic, it can work.

Check the ingredients of what you have used in the past and what you are using now, and see if you can find something that might be making you break out - lanolin or some kind of oil.

most of those anti acne preparations are damaging to the skin, as they strip your skin of much needed natural oils. I recommend washing with sensitive skin soaps, and dab your skin during the day to remove excess dirt and oils with witch hazel and cotton balls. If you do get any bumps, which I think are hives, put on some calendula cream, in a petroleum jelly base in the evening before bed. This will make them disappear and repair your skin. Don't use those chemicals on your face.
