I just read that Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer--is that a death sentence?!

Question: I know some cancers are more treatable than others...

Answers: I know some cancers are more treatable than others...

I believe it is a death sentence. Yes, he might live a year. A year of chemotherapy & radiation. If left untreated, he would probably have months.
My mom was just diagnosed and today got the verdict from the oncologist. She's got a couple of months.
By the time this cancer is diagnosed, it has usually already spread to the lymp nodes or other organs.

Not necessarily, but it is certainly bad news.

i have just looked it up and it doesnt sound good.it spreads to other areas really quick.could be talking months.wow i didnt no bout this.he is really good isnt he.i will keep my fingers crossed

Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst cancers to have. By the time it is detected it is usually pretty far advanced. The 1 yr survival rate is only about 20%. I think it doesn't look good for Patrick. He has a huge fight ahead of him. Hopefully he will beat it.

NO BUT 4 HIM ITS TAKING OVER HIS BODY...GOD BLESS

There are different "levels" of cancer. Level 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b through level four. Depending on how early the cancer was detected directly relates to his chances for survival.

It's not necessarily a death sentence, but as someone previously stated the 1 year rate is 20%, the 5 year rate is only 4%

I'm sure he'll have the best possible care as he's a movie star. It doesn't look good-- but he's better off then the average joe. Pancreatic cancer is one of the fastest spreading cancers. My aunt had it, she died less than 2 weeks after being diagnosed. However it had already spread to her lungs, stomach, breasts and overies.

some people can live a certain amount of years with treatments, with pan cancer there is a 20 percent to lvie a year with it, even with treatments.

I was saddened and in shock by this news!
I love ghost, dirty dancing and many other of his roles
Why so many good looking young healthy people dying this year all of a sudden?
Its sad and i know the more we live the more deaths we see, but this is not a death i want to see anytime soon
I hope somehow he makes it through! i have heard of people who survive this, the more i read about it the more i see people are hopeful as theyve known people who survived for a long time or were completley cured.
Hes only 55, its not fair he should live to at least 80!
but life isnt fair for everyone.
I hope as they say 5 yrs at least, they say is how long most sufferers live, but i hope by then some new research has been done
Patrick, i want you to make it through i want him to keep strong!
