Prednisone is a great drug for a lot of ailments, the side effects are an increased appetite as well as a puffy appearance.
Another bad side effect is that they lower your immune system so try and avoid anyone who is ill as you can catch things very easily. If you are going for any surgical or dental treatments let the Doctors know as the infection rate is very high for people on steroids. Once you stop taking the prednisone your immune system goes Right back on high.
The side effects will lesson as you taper down to smaller doses and will go away the day after you stop taking them.
They do not stay in your system for three years.

Prednisone is a synthetic steroid, and it will make you look and feel bloated. Jerry Lewis was on so much of this stuff, that he took himself off of it, so he can at least function.

When I had an extremely bad case of poison ivy, my doctor put me on prednisone, plus gave me an injection of it. It was the same kind of progressive program yours put you on. I did exactly what I was told and I wound up being ravenously hungry all the time, plus I felt like I was going to throw up whenever I ate anything. Bad combination, right? Thankfully, when the prescription ran out, it only took about 12 hours for me to get back to normal. I sure hope I never have to take that stuff ever again!

as soon as they end you should start getting relief but they can stay in your system for up to 3 years every time you do a round it just depends on how much you take and for how long but there is a warning that says tell your dentist or if you have any surgery in the next three years did they not give you a info with your script but usually the swelling well go away fairly quick after you stop and be sure and eat bananas and things with potassium that will help too

I have severe asthma, and I've been off and on prednisone all my life. My reaction to it varies... sometimes I get hungry all the time and retain a lot of water, and others I can't stand to look at food and drop weight like crazy.

It usually doesn't take me long to lose the bloating, as it's really just water retention, but if you work your butt off for a couple weeks, getting a good sweat going, the bloats will be gone in no time. Just don't worry about it until you're off the pills, first.

eat bananas. the potassium will help you not get so bloated. my mom was on prednisone for arthritis for 30 years. once you stop taking the pills it will be out of your system within a few weeks. just eat a banana with breakfast and 1 with lunch everyday, and drink lots of water, and the bloating should get better.
