I need to find a diabetic lancing device that makes virtually no noise....?!

Question: my best friend is a type 2 diabetic and OCD...she can't make herself check her bloodsugar because the noise that the "poker" makes when it pricks your finger bothers her. Any advice on wich one is the quietest?

I too have diabetes and it frustrates me that she wont check her bloodsugar. she said that this is the reason so i'm trying to help her out. Thanks

There is a pen that she can get that is the quietest, I have the same problem the noise gets to me as well. Its white and basically makes no noise, and you can adjust the setting of the pen to how deep you want the needle to go. I'm pretty sure your friend can get it from her doctor and or even a pharmacy

Try using a nedel pin or a knife.

I suppose she could just stick herself with the bare lancet, and skip using a device altogether, but that would probably be more painful and even harder to bring yourself to do.

The BD white lancing device seems pretty quiet, but ultimately, she needs to just grow up and get over it. If she does it several times in a row and sees that nothing really bad happens, this will help her get used to it. Don't enable her fears and irrational behavior, this is not helpful.

Having a terrible fear of needles myself for most of my life I had to force myself to test and the first time was hard. So was the second time. After that I got over it. I have tested as many as a dozen times in a day when ill.

Same thing with injecting insulin. OCD is no excuse. She CAN train herself to get over it and also overcome irrational fears.
