What causes the skin to turn colors (black, blue, yellow) with a bruise?!

Question: A bruise is what happens when a capilliary (small blood vessel) breaks. Blood pools under the skin, and because the capillaries closest to the skin are transporting blood back to the heart, the blood is blue (deprived of oxygen), so the bruise appears blue.

Blood - A bruise is where a blood vessel has burst.

Then as the blood under the skin is re-absorbed by the body the amount gets less and changes color.
