Small Cell Lung Cancer is one in which a percentage of folks may have long term survival. It is a cancer that is very responsive to treatment, but many cases tend to recur. If diagnosed early (Limited Stage) chemotherapy and radiation will allow 20% of cases to survive at least 5 years. If diagnosed late (Extensive Stage), 5 year survival is much worse (around 1%).

Lung cancer is one of the toughest cancers to beat.

My aunt died of it, and I've had half a dozen patients with it. Life expectancy can be as short as six weeks or as long as eighteen months.

I am an oncology nurse and can tell you that it is very possible to beat this. You provide very little information. But if it is caught early enough it can be beat.
The first thing would be for surgery to remove the cancerous area, then it will be followed up by treatment of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. That would be to kill off any further cancer cells that might have been missed by the surgery.
It can be beat. Check into the American Cancer society for more information. Hope this helps and good luck!

When you get diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer they give you a stage either it is limited or extensive. If his SCLC has been labeled limited, then he has a better prognosis with treatment. If he has been labeled extensive then the Dr. should have given him a prognosis of possible months he has to live. It is one of the hardest cancers to beat but, depending on treatment & level he has been diagnosed with, he may have a good chance to fight it or it may take him quickly. Here's a good article that is quite informative that may help you understand more about it:

The best advice I can give is to be there for them ,love them, and support their decisions for whatever treatment path they choose to pursue. Losing control of one's life is frightening. Dr's try & give good estimates on recovery or amount of time someone has to live but, they really can only guess, there are a lot of factors that come into play. I have spoken with many Oncologists that say that they have some patients that do well that had all the odds against them & others that don't do well & should have. Find out more info & then you can learn about the best options for treatment & recovery. Good Luck!

I used to work in a nursing home and give many baths.
Not one time did i ever see an expiration date stamped on their feet or hinny.
It's up to God.
We can eat like God intended according to Levitical Law.
Eat food as close to the way God made it.
Juicing works very well, also prayer & fasting.

Women live less than 1 year. Dana Reeves was an exception, and she NEVER smoked.

Men a better chance of beating it.

Thoughts are with your family.
