My daughter has these symptoms-she is cold all the time and tired??!

Question: My daughter is only 12, but has been this way for several months now. I have taken her temperature orally and it is around 95 which seems low. She says that she is fine, but I am wondering if I should take her to the doctor for a check-up??

Hi there. I would take your daughter in for a check up. Ask them to run blood tests on her and to check her thyroid hormone levels. Signs of an underactive thyroid include hot/cold intolerance, being tired all of the time, moody, inability to lose weight, etc. It affects your whole hormonal system. Being that she is 12, she is also getting ready (if not already) to experience puberty and it would be a good idea to have the doctor help explain the different changes that will be going through her body from that as well. Her oral temp sounds normal...some people run a little lower than the "norm" of 98.6...I am usually like 97 on the norm. Hopefully it is nothing serious. If it IS something like a thyroid condition, she will be able to take medication for it to regulate it. Either way, double checking with the doc is the best way to ease your mind. Good luck and hope this helps!

When I had anemia, I suffered from the same symptoms. Maybe it could be the same for your daughter. You may want to get her iron checked.

Thyroid and anemia come to mind...so it would certainly get it checked out!

I would also have her checked out. Mono (glandular fever) can have lasting effects like that as can other conditions.

you should take her to a doctor.she is having the cold because of the weather
