If you tan, but don't let your skin burn, will you get the same damage as if!

Question: Your body produces a natural sunscreen in your skin called melanin. Those with darker complexions have more of this pigment to protect their skin from UV damage. Every time you get a tan, intentionally or not...with or without a burn... you are damaging your skin. Get self-tanning lotion if you want the look without the UV damage.

Make sure your sunscreen is at least spf 30 and contains ingredients like zinc oxide. For your face alone, you need about a shot glass amount to get the entire spf listed on the bottle. Then you'd need to reapply that amount every two hours. A fantastic investment is to get vitamin c serum (at Sephora) because most people do not put on the necessary amount of sunscreen and the serum helps to further protect your skin from damage.

Wearing sunscreen is the best thing you can do to make sure your skin looks great for years to come!

No, when you get sun burn you have a first degree burn. Anytime you have any degree of burn you are damaging skin cells. Damaged skin cells can mutate thus causing skin cancer. If you do not burn, then no damage has been done to the skin. It is also believed that it is not the sun that damages your skin, it is the lotion you put on it. Kind of like the baked potato theory...Baked potatoes are good for you..it's the junk you put on it that is bad.

If you burn or tan you are still getting sun exposure which will has the potential to damage your skin. if you are talking about tanning, i cant help you. i and really tan and i dont go tanning. use sunscreen to protect yourself. you still tan.

A tan usually is damage to the skin. Its hard to say because everyones skin is diffrent but the chances of getting spots, wrinkles or even skin cancer is maybe a little lesser than if you had gotten extremely burned since fair people are more at risk becuase they burn easier but not much better or a chance. Wear Sun Screen!
