Question about piles (haemorrhoids)?!

Question: My best mate has got a large haemorrhoid outside her back passage (no I have not seen it!)
She is using Anusol cream but she says it's not working. What else can she do? She's very low in mood as pain getting her down. Although I'm a nurse I do not know that much about piles.

Hello Laplandfan,

Your mate has my sympathy. I too have been plagued by these horrible little things.

My advice is that your friend should contact the doctor. He/she can prescribe something stronger such as Proctosedyl. This can only be obtained on prescription.

The problem with over the counter treatments is the manufacturers are limited to what they can put into them.

If it is that bad, your friend should also ask to be referred to a specialist.

Many hemorrhoids can be treated without the need for surgery, but only a specialist can decide.

There is a great deal of information about this problem on-line but I would reccomend your friend to visit:

I wish your friend luck.

Oh how painful! suppositories are much more effective than cream in my opinion. your friend should also go to doc just to have it checked, there are ops that can be done to remove them.

it will go perhaps she could see a doctor.
trying wrapping an ice cube in a tea towel/similar and try to shrink it that way..that's what i do
make sure she doesn't stand to long
doc can give her thing to put up bottom to make number 2 ing easier
doc even may refer her for an op to stop it happening again.
xylocaine...is what some chemist sell much better than other brands numbs the area.

No jokes its a painful condition. See your Doctor they may be able to provide a more effective cream. They can be removed by a method called banding or reduced with an injection into the effected area both of which in the UK will mean a Hospital appointment, good luck.

there is a way to shrink or get rid of hemorrhoids with out
surgery,i do not remember what the docs.professional
name is but he is the one that does the colonoscopy's
he uses a laser gun or something similar too it,puts it in your
butt&pulls the trigger,zap there gone,very painless.i have
had it done.mention it to your dr.&see if he knows of this
procedure.believe me it really works.

The best way she can do is to have a consultation with a doctor. However, in the meantime she could atleast take a high-fiber diet, lots of water (atleast 2 Liters/day), exercise daily, avoid spices, avoid straining when voiding, no tight-fitting jeans, avoid sitting and standing for a long time and avoid carrying heavy materials. There's so much to lessen the pain of it. But still, i think she should see the doctor. (Just a suggestion)

she should see her doc as they can prescribe steroid creams which will be more effective than over the counter ones. if it is a prolapsed haemorrhoid then treatment will be needed so encourage her to see doc soonest.
