The other answerers gave you some good advice, I would just like to add one more thing. Most BG meters have an alarm on them (freestyle flash has 5), set the alarms for tests and for taking your medication. If you can't set it on your meter, get a different kind, set your watch or set your cell phone to alarm. Explain it to your co-workers so you don't get any slack if they think it is a cell phone and maybe if they hear it and you don't, they can remind you.
Also, get your family involved. They have a vested interest in your health, so get them to remind you. It is amazing what children remember, especially if they get a 'thank you' when they remind you. Diabetes is really a family disease and they should be involved, know the prevention methods (keeping an ideal weight and getting exercise), and know that it is a serious disease. You don't have to be specific with the dangers of not taking care of yourself if you don't want to.
Test even if you think there is no point and keep track of those numbers, plus if you have taken your meds that day. When you see it on paper (put a little notebook and hook a pen to your kit), it may set up a pattern to adjust medication or make you more diligent about taking tests and medication.
Go to your doc and be honest. This is your health and your life. Don't take it lightly. Most diabetics have to test everyday, my son tests 6-8 times a day. If it helps you get in a pattern, test everyday. At least before you eat breakfast so you get into a habit of doing it. Two days a week is harder to do, because there is no pattern.
If you continue this way, you will not be able to work at this job, or enjoy your family the same way, you are headed to burn-out emotionally and physically. Don't wait for that to happen. Take the time NOW.

Good luck

you need to do this for your health. Ask for help. Get yourself on a reminder schedual..

I'm going to be hard on you, because i have the same problems and because i lost my Dad because he didn't take care of his diabetes.

What do you expect your children to do if you die?
What do want their father to tell them?, "Hey sorry she didn't care enough about you to take her meds, so she could see you grow up"

You are by law supposed to have breaks. If you have a medical condition, they are required to allow you time to take meds, and test yourself.

You have to be the adult and take care of you first, because if you don't you won't be there to care for any one else either.

i would go to your doctor and be honest, say your stressed out with the fact that you dont have time to do this and ask if there is an alternative or an easier way, there are always new things coming onto the medical market, a friend of mine has a little machine which tests her levels for her. You shouldnt feel so bad on yurself, im not surprised you dont have time, im sure the doctor will try to help.

Keep a planner. You may want to set an alarm to remind you of testing your blood sugar levels, or to remind you of a doctor's appointment.

You can only look after your family when you're healthy. Take care of yourself first before you can actually take care of anyone else.

you may not care whether you live another year or not but i'm sure your kids do.

what are they going to say at your funeral? mommy died because she didn't want to make time to handle her business and be here for us?

think about it.

Just think about the illness it will lead to, for example;ampitation [maybe the legs] blindnes, stroke, heart attack.Woe. having any of these examples come about later, it would not be very nice.but you may have a loyal partner that would give up their life to care for you. Iknow you are concerned about your problem, but my advise to you is disapline your self and make sure that you follow doctors orders to the line.and live to enjoy life.

You need to force yourself to make time. If you don't, your kids will be growing up with only one parent. This isn't something to mess around with, it is a very serious disease.

Either stop and make time to take care of yourself or fate will make you stop and do it!!

I don't mean to totally upset your little apple cart with the above statement, but if you don't take charge of your diabetes, you will be losing fingers, toes, eyesight and maybe more!!! Your children will grow up with a debilitated mother and I am sure you don't want that.

Take the metformin with the first bite of food for the meal it goes with. Like breakfast and maybe dinner if that is what the doctor ordered.

Do be testing your glucose levels when you think about it. any reading over 126 fasting or 2+ hours after eating is doing irreparable damage to tiny blood vessels, nerves and of course eyes!!

Set yourself up a schedule!!! I had to!! I thought I didn't have time for diabetes!!

Test glucose on getting out of bed
Eat breakfast take metformin
mid morning eat something
eat lunch
mid afternoon eat something
eat dinner take metformin
have a bedtime snack

Start journaling every part of your day. It really does help.

Please don't deprive your family of your bright cheerful self!! They need and want you in their lives on 2 feet with 2 eyes that can see and 2 hands to help them do strange projects!!

I hate to say this but "Who Does"? Look you found the time to ask this question so you can find the time to test and get to the Dr. Get a watch that has an alarm and set it to remind you to test and take your meds. If I can drive a tuck and do it so can you. Eating right is important. Set your watch for this too if you have to. By not taking care of yourself you set yourself up for complications all around. When you loose your eyesight and can't see your beautiful children faces? What about grandchildren down the road? If you lose your foot or leg and can't run and play with them? Make you your number # 1 priority and you will feel better and you'll all win. Good Luck.

This is important for your health. If you don't do it your health can decline rapidly.

You really need to take care of yourself, because if you don't, your diabetes will get out of control. I've had type 2 diabetes for 10+ years, and I'm still having trouble controlling mine. Diabetes causes so many other problems, such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, then you can also lose your limbs. I understand you have a busy life, but you have to help yourself first in order to stay alive. God bless

I was in the same boat, and I was just about your age, too. I had a great paying job, but worked 10 hours a day and barely ever checked my BG's. And my boss was so intense she would make my life hell if I took time off to go to the doc.

But then I got a bad test result from the lab...my kidneys were leaking protein (not good). It really woke me up that if I didn't make some drastic changes to my lifestyle, I wouldn't be here too much longer.

So I made plans to quit my job, relocated to a smaller town, and took a job that paid 1/2 as much, but 8 hours a day, and much more mellow. And I went on the pump, and my kidney problem went away and here I am 10 years later and in great shape! It was the best decision of my life! If you're worried about money, sit down and see how much of a pay cut you could take if you cut out some little luxuries or trimmed in other places. You might be surprised.

You need to be around for your kids, so I advise you to work with your boss to get your health needs met, or seek another job.
