Can I treat my strep throat with nitrofur?!
Question: I don't have tonsils or adnoids but my daughter had strep and now I am achy an have a sore throat. I have a recent prescription of nitrofur and would like to take that rather than pay for a new antibiotic prescription. Thanks

Nitrofur or Macrodantin is used to treat Urinary Tract Infections or bacterias such as staph aurreus,enterroccocus, and E. coli not strep. See a physician to get an antibiotic appropriate to treat this infection. Using the wrong antibiotic can cause bacteria to become antibiotic resisitant . Plus you do not know for a fact that you even have strep. Your doctor can do a simple swab to test for strep.
are you really going to play with your daughters health like that. take her to the doctor and get what he says she needs. if you cant do that give your daughter to someone who will care about her

I assume you have macrodantin (nitrofurantoin) for a possible urinary infection? It will not cover strep throat.
