Pinkeye is considered contagious until the person has been on a complete 24 hours of antibiotics. At that point, normal activities can be resumed if you feel up to it.
You should avoid wearing contact lenses until you are completely finished with the eye drops. Use new lenses if they are the disposable kind. Wash the hard ones extremely well before use as it is hard to get the bacteria off of contact lenses.
All eye makeup should be thrown out, as it may harbor the bacteria that caused the pinkeye.

it will be contageous for a day or so but you may want to stay away from big crowds for 3-4 days for 2 reasons,
a) Feel better, not so self-consious and just get healthy again
b) you could be one of the cases where the contageousness does not go away in 2-3 days.
