Why is Chlamydia called "The Clap"?!

Question: Just curious. :)

Answers: Just curious. :)

maybe it refers to the sound that female and male genitals make when they "clap" together.

just a guess

I think that's just a term used to describe all STDs but mostly used for Syphilis

the clap is actually gonorrhea...

there are two rumors out there...

1.before modern medicine was able to effectively take care of STDs, pretty barbaric methods were used. to extract the puss it produces in the penis, it was "squeezed" out. Imagine someone clapping... on genitalia...

2 the stinging feeling a man gets in his urethra caused by the disease. As if someone "clapped" the genitalia.

Chlamydia is not "the clap".
