Ive had my gallbladder removed and now I can't handle alchohol.?!

Question: I can't even drink a few beers without having severe stomach pain and diarrhea within a couple hours. It's really annoying I am 23 and would like to have a normal social life where I can handle a few drinks. Before I had the surgery I could drink as much as I wanted to without even having a hangover. I had the surgery in the begging of September, will this ever go away?

Maybe you are absorbing it too quickly, or have something else wrong like an ulcer.

You should always check with your doctor about something like this. you may no longer be able to assimilate alcohol. It sounds like something called dumping syndrome. I am not sure if it is permanent.

ask your doctor. One good thing, you'll never be an Alcoholic!

I have a good social life with out drinking. Most of the time. By choice.

To answer your specific question, alcohol does not seem to be involved in the formation of gallstones, and drinking alcoholic beverages after a cholecystectomy should not have a negative impact on most patients. However, some patients experience looser stools after their gallbladders are removed, possibly related to the constant flow of bile into the intestine. Because alcohol can also lead to diarrhea, drinking may compound the problem of cholecystectomy-related diarrhea in certain people.
