What does it mean to have protien in your urine?!

Question: Protein in your urine (or proteinuria) is an indication of kidney damage/failure. Normally, proteins are much too large to be filtered from the blood by the kidneys. If, however, the kidneys are damaged, they may allow larger molecules (such as proteins) to enter the urine. A person with normal renal function should have no protein in their urine.

kidney or bladder infection.

protienuria.
protien is not suppose to be lost through urine. when urine is filtered, it should be absorbed and other waste materials are eliminated.
if albumin is lost, it is called albuminuria.
there is some problem in the kidney[sometimes it could be mild]that causes the problem.

Make sure you get checked for Lupus. Sometimes, that can be a sign of it.

Protein in urine can be from an infection, a stone, diabetes, or kidney damage. See a urologist to get a better diagnosis, unless you already know you are a diabetic. If you need a kidney doctor, he will send you to a Nephrologist.
