It all depends of the cause of why the
liver results are high: hepatitis virus,
hereditary conditions, autoimmune disease,
etc. Each one is treated differently and
each one shows test results that are
different. IT is hard to wait until the doctor
determines the cause and the treatment
for your nephew...but I can give you some
tips to be sure the doctor knows all he
need to know to make a determination.
He should only have medications that
are prescribed by his doctor. Most all
medications go through the liver to be
broken down before going to the rest of
the body...therefore, it is a good idea to
tell the doctor all medications: over the
counter, vitamins, minerals, herbs, herbal
teas and medications prescribed by his
other doctors. Medications are very potent
and can cause harm to the liver if used
when someone has a liver problem without
the doctor consent.
Try to keep him away from others who are
sick. You don't want to see him become
sick with something else and need to take
unnecessary medications right now and
weaken his system even more. He needs
time to heal.
Wash all fresh fruits and vegetable and avoid open displayed foods. People handle
things in the grocery stores and they can
sneeze or cough over the food. Try to
have him wash his hands often and use
wipes to clean his hands if not near a
source to wash.
A good diet with all the essential vitamins
and minerals in them is very good. It will
help to rebuild his cells and keep his body
strong. If he is sleepy, let him rest.
People who have inflammation inside the
liver can become extremely tired and need
to rest frequently and when they need to.
As long as the liver cells can be helped with
medication to reduce the inflammation and
sometimes eliminating the cause...the cells
can heal....it is only when it isn't treated and
it progresses to the point of the cells dying,
that the real problem will occur.

What is high? If it is the enzyme level, that would indicate liver disease or damage. His doctor should indicate the prognosis.
