Has anyone been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue and or Fibromalgia???!

Question: I would like to know if you have or perhaps know of someone suffering from these illnesses. I would like to know more about it. There has been a lot of publicity about it in the last few years.

This is a serious question, please have some respect when you answer Thanks to all who participate! :)

I am 16 years old and ever since i was about 13 I have been differnet to other children my own age i have never had as much energy as them and i was always going to bed early and i used to get dizzy spells but then they would go away. About a year ago I had labyrinthitis and it seemed to go on for ages and the doctors starting saying that the labyrinthitis had gone. I was feeling dizzy most of the time i had blury vision, muscle pains, constant tiredness, tinggling in my eyes along with lots of other symptons. I kept going to and throw from the doctors and then doctors started saying that i could have Chronic fatigue syndrome and as my mum has it there was more of i chance that i could have. When the doctors more or less said thats what they suspected it was my mum decided to take me to see a top private specialist. His name is proffessor Findlay. He diognosed me with the Cfs. He sent me to see a nutritionist and an occupational therapist. I am now on a pacing programme and have been put on a low yeast diet as many people with cfs have a yeast intolerence. I am due to see him again in about a month so he can see if i have made any progress. The pacing programme is to try and pace out what energy i use eac day and then hopefully be able to build it up bit by bit. Hope this gives you a better understanding of Chronic fatigue syndrome.

My mother, father and I all have fibromyalgia. It is a serious, debilitating condition with a slew of symptoms. My mother is on disability from it, my father should be.

There is 18 different tender points, you have to have 12/18 to be diagnosed.

Long-term fatigue, more than 3 mo.

Radiating pain that feels like you have the flu all the time.

Sleep disorders including, insomnia and the inability to reach R.E.M. sleep. This causes you to wake, not feeling restful, the feeling of being drugged when you wake up. Depression. Sometimes feels like you are living in a fog (fibro fog).

Before conceding to thinking you have a life-time deabilitating disorder there are other things that can cause this. Suggestions to give your doctor: Vitamin D levels, Vit. B, thyroid... this is a big one. Have them test your TSH and Free T3's and T4's, reason being is that Fibromyalgia has over 40 symptoms and they are the SAME symptoms found with thyroid problems. If your TSH comes back above a 2.5 have them send you to a endo. The AACE changed their range of "normal" and labs have not quite caught up.

There is another way to look at this check out... The treatment of fibromyalgia caused by hypothyroidism or thyroid hormone resistance.

I have fibromyalgia. It & CFS are considered cousins.

It is often accompanied by fatigue; low thyroid; anxiety; insomnia, depression; headaches; chronic widespread pain syndrome that is diagnosed by positive reactions to 11 of 18 trigger points of pain on both sides of the body. Most testing is negative.

There is some speculation that it is caused as a result of a virus or aftermath of an injury IE: Whiplash.

It is considered to involve neuro-muscular-skeletal, glandular systems. People often have autoimmune diseases also. Thyroid problems are very common. They often suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Antidepressants are often used to reduce neuro-muscular pain, depression and anxiety. NSAIDs for aches & pain.

Exercise is recommended. I've done Physical therapy; walking; Tai chi. Massage also helps. Swimming & water exercises are supposed to be very good too.
I've also found acupuncture helpful.

The main MD I see is my GP & my psycho-pharmacologist who discovered the fibromyalgia & thyroid problems.

Today rheumatologists &psycho-pharmacologists are the main MDs who follow fibromyalgia.

I have simplified this.

My sister-in-law has fibromalgia. When stress hits her, her feet cramp up really bad and she feels achy all over. I did hear about a cool product called cuddle ewe or something like that. it is a mattress topper made of sheep wool and is suppose to work real good for fibromalgia. That's about all I know. I hope you aren't in too much pain.
