Just under two hours after eating is a blood glucose reading of 161high?!

Question: Well, in order to have your answer, you'll have to check your glicemia again in the morning before eating anything.

1st measurement
-If your glicemia will be under 110 mg/dl you're healthy
-If it will be between 111-130 mg/dl it's called modified basal glicemia and you're gonna have to repeat it the next day.
-IIf it is higher than 131 mg/dl you have a hyperglicemia and you'll have to repeat it the next day.

2nd measurement (next day before eating)
-If it is under 110 you're fine
-If it is between 111-130 you'll have to take a glucose tolerance test
-If it is higher than 131 you have DIABETES

The GLUCOSE TOLERANCE test
-Should be done in a hospital/clinic/etc
-You drink 200 g of glucose dissolved in water
-You measure the glicemia at time 0,1 and 2 hours.

INTERPRETATION
Normal:
time 0 <110
time 1 <180
time 2 <120

Any higher values = DIABETES

Hope this helps

Well that depends on what your target blood sugar is. But to me a 161 is a bit high, my target range is 150, most people have a target range of 80-120. maybe you ate to much?

Yes it is high. It should be 140 or less. Keep monitoring to see if it is consistently high.

Yes. Anything over 126 is high. However, blood sugar just like blood pressure has to be found consistently high several times in a row. So sustained blood sugar over 126 is considered high and you will most likely be diagnosed as diabetic.

Take care my friend.

Borderline.

If you are a diabetic then the readings are normal.

As far as your comment about feeling better with your blood sugar high.. that is exactly how I feel, although my readings were more towards the 300 to 500 sometimes higher readings. I was just diagnosed 2 months ago and when I get my sugar down to the 200s or 100s i have symptoms of very low blood sugar. So if your blood sugar was high for a period of time that probably would explain why you feel better with it higher.

my doctor said and this is for me anyways that during the dayafter meals that im looking for anywhere from 140-160. i was just told i was type 2 two weeks ago. mine usually falls anywhere from 80-130 below what they told me it should. its probably what you ate that made it spike up so watch what your eating to see what is making it jump and eat that only in moderation.
