I feel worse when blood sugar levels go from 140/120 down to 110/100. Why?!

Question: I am just testing blood glucose levels yesterday and today (at dr.'s request), so don't have a big sample, but I have noticed a pattern so far.

Seem that my waking/fasting level is ~110. After eating it goes to ~140/160 in the first half hour. As the level falls in the next two and a half hours to ~110/100, I feel the worst, even though those lower levels are reportedly better for you.

I think that I read someone saying that this happened to them until they got their levels under 120 and then from that point on, she felt worse when her levels were high, and no longer when they were going down to a safe level.

Is this typical? And, why does this happen/how to change?

a fasting level of 110 is usually indicative of diabetes. at 140/160 you are feeling the rush of the elevated blood sugar. After this rush comes a crash when the sugar level drops below what can be processed with limited insulin activity

this elevation/crash can be changed by diet but the ability to change depends on your body's ability to make and utilize insulin

Sometimes, a little bit of exercise can help this problem go away - I don't why, but it seems to work. Something like walking a little faster than normal for 20 minutes 3-4 times per week may be all that's needed.

Those reading are very good it will take some time for your body to get used to the lower levels of blood sugar. You are still within the normal ranges for a diabetic though. My body didn't care for being lower @ first either and it took me some time to adjust too.

You appear to be suffering from early Diabetes. You may please go for a GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) on the advice of your Doctor.

Your bod has been used to the higher glucose levels, now they are coming down and the bod doesn't like it much. YES, it takes a while for the bod to realize that the normal levels are good!

It is not good to test any sooner than 1 hour after eating and preferably closer to 2 hours for good post prandial readings according to most endocrinologists.

Just try to get through this time of changing your bod back to norms. It will get better, I promise!! It is hard to take sometimes tho. I do sympathize!
