As long a the person is not allergic to the medicine, all over-the-counter medicines are fine for a person with Hep B to take for the reason that they are designed for, they will not hurt him because of his Hep B.
Tell your friend to check with a doctor. It's a really bad idea to try and guess out which medicines to take and be your own doctor. Best of luck.
