WHY do people get chicken pox?!

Question: Chicken Pox is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) which is one of the 8 known human herpes viruses. and an inoculation is available for it.

Chicken pox is very contagious and is spread early via coughing or by direct contact with the sores. A person is considered infectious or contagious from one to two days before the rash appears (runny nose and cold like symptoms period) up until five days or so after (or when all the blisters have formed 'crusts').

Its rare to get chickenpox twice, but does happen. Also the virus remains dormant and may lead to shingles later on in life (which could emerge decades after the initial infection).

It is a contagious virus that is out there and everyone usually gets it. It is mostly harmless.
