Is paper money really "dirty"?!

Question: I really want to know if paper money has germs on it or is truly dirty. I know that the common perception says money is extremely filthy but I heard that the ink printed on the bills is actually germ resistant or antibacterial and that money is actually cleaner than most think.

People can say anything, and this is one of the myths. Money is dirty, regardless of what ink they use. If that ink was so good, it would be used in many places where germs gather. Use an anti-bacterial gel like is used in hospitals, and you will be fine. Get in the habit of washing your hands all day, because if you don't you evidentally will pick up a cold, flu, or worse.
I work in a hospital and we have to scrub down for a full 3 minutes. That is like singing Happy Birthday three times. When working in other areas of the hospital, the gel is in a bottle on the walls, and everywhere else. There is a reason...germs are around you everywhere. You don't have to get paranoid, just get smart.
I work as a volunteer once a week in the snack shop, and I use the anti-bacterial gel constantly while giving money, taking money and making the food. Better a few minutes to do that as to spend time in the hospital with flesh-eating bacteria. My stepson lost a finger and had to have twelve operations to scrap the bacteria from his arm...just because a germ got in his hand, and quickly grew. Within hours, he was in danger of having his whole arm amputated.
Truly, not worth the risk.

just think about where all it's been...and who all has touched it. gross! not only paper money, but coins too.

i have always taught i was extemely dirty since it has been touched by so many people, but have never heard about the germ resistant thing hope its true

the ink is germ resistant? i didnt know people could be this ignorant

I think so. It gets recycled, you know, its PAPER. I think it is. It must be touched a lot of times, including the times before it was recycled.

Think about a strip club and were some of that money goes when its there and maybe that will answer your question.

well, you never know where that money has been, down someones pants, dropped in a toilet, been in someones mouth, idk why people do these things, but sometimes i wash it, and then dry it in the microwave :) not all the time, cuz it doesnt matter to me, but it helps because the water washes off some of the germs, and the microwave will make some of the rest go away- hope this helps!

thin about it. everybody is touching it, so its dirty. also, people sometimes hide cash in their shoes or underwear. i would bet that there is no "germ repelling ink" in the money, because that would be way too expensive. so yes, it is dirty

when it is first used it is fine you know but then after about a year it has been all over and touched by who knows who! it is a proven fact that money is the dirtiest thing in the world. if you are a germaphobic then i'd be suprised if you ever touched money.

Money is very, very dirty. There use to be this show on MTV called "Urban Legends" and one of them was about money and what's on it. They found traces of human feces and animal wastes, urine, puss, semen, vaginal fluids, and about 400,000 germs per square inch. Even worse, they found cocaine on it, which means someone rolled it up in a narrow tube and snorted their drugs with it. Yuck. And my mom stuffs it down her bra, so imagine all the boob sweat from the other billion women who do the same thing.

The girls at the Wal Mart I go to wear latex gloves at the register. I don't blame them, but no one has actually caught a disease from money. Unless you attempt to eat it, then I think we're all safe.
