Strange Rash?!

Question: My mother was recently told that she has Rheumatoid arthritis. She is very aware that firm bumps and what not may occur (but only under the skin). However, this rash that has appeared on both her legs (under the knee specifically) seems to be very well be on the surface. They are bloodshot, raw to the touch and tend to bleed rather easily when rubbed or slightly scratched. There are also small spots on other various parts of her body in which the arthritist doesn't persist.

She seems to be in pain most of the time and the rash has become to bad, she's had to cover them up with long pants. If anyone could please, send in your idea as to what this rash is. I would also ask that you provide pictures along with your comment in order for both my mother and I to compare her rash to what you mention.

Blessings!

This rash could be caused by many things. We here on Yahoo Answers cannot see it nor are we qualified to diagnose it! We can only offer what we hope is help full opinions. Do some research online into skin conditions, eczema, psoriasis, etc. Most of the sites your search engine will pull up for you will have pictures you can look at to compare to you mom! it is good to educate yourself about these things but do not attempt to diagnose this yourself. If your mom is seeing a doctor for arthritis then she is probably taking some kind of meds for it and it could possibly be a allergic reaction to something. Allergic reactions can take on many forms most commonly a rash and you can develop an allergic reaction to something you have taken before or have been taking for a while as the body can build up resistance to drugs and begin to react differently to them at any time!! And there are many medicines that are blood thinners that can cause a persons skin to look the way you describe and this could be an indication of a serious problem!! So please get her back to the doc asap and show him the rash!! Better safe that sorry!!! She may need her meds changed!! And if not at least you will have peace of mind and can just try some soothing lotions or powders that your doctor may recommend! Good Luck!!

Hey sweetie,

I have the same question about some symptoms and a rash I have as well. I got alot of information from the www.lupus.org website. She may want to go there or you and educate yourself on that and she should get to the dr as soon as possible for diagnosis.
